Training course on Rainwater Harvesting construction at UNAM Engineering Campus Ongwediva

As part of the CuveWaters capacity development measures a five week training course on Rainwater Harvesting Tank construction will take place at UNAM Engineering Campus in Ongwediva from 25th of August until 26th of September. Approximately 15 people will learn during that timeframe how to construct different tanks for rainwater harvesting, a greenhouse, drying units, how to install drip irrigation systems and to implement gardens. The trainees are from different institutions such as the Rural Development Centers, from the UNAM, from Vocational Centers and others. After successful completion of the course they will be able to construct tanks on their own or train others in construction. The training course will be held by Isaac Kariuki and John Ndungu from One World Consultants, Kenya. The construction of the tanks and greenhouses was made possible by the GIZ and is part of the support for the upgrading of research infrastructure at UNAM Engineering Campus Ongwediva. The construction will be accompanied by two German students who will install different kinds of measuring equipment at the tanks which should later be used by Namibian students for research purposes.
