CuveWaters research project at the IFAT 2014: “Aquadome” at the BMBF-booth

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will also be present at the IFAT, the world’s largest trade fair for environmental technology in Munich/Germany. From May 5th to May 9th, the BMBF will be presenting current research results from its funding priority “Sustainable water management” (NaWaM) in Hall A5 under the motto “Experiencing the blue miracle”. The main attraction will be the “Aquadome”, a special movie presentation in a 3D dome tent. The research projects within the funding project “Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)” will be presented here in an exciting and entertaining way.

The BMBF-project CuveWaters, led by the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE), is also being communicated visually in the Aquadome: The movie “WaterChanges – Water for Namibia, the country of extremes” leads viewers into the northern part of Namibia, into the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin. Strong floods and extended droughts alternate seasonally in this region. Since 2006, the CuveWaters project has been developing decentralised solutions for sustainable water supply and sanitation in northern Namibia. The pilot plants established there include solar-driven desalination plants to supply drinking water and harvesting plants for collecting rain water, which are both described in detail in the movie. If you don’t get a chance to see the movie at the BMBF booth during the IFAT 2014, you can also watch it in German and English at ISOE’s video portal on Vimeo.
