News from the gardens in Epyeshona and Iipopo

After almost a yearlong drought-related production stop of the rain and floodwater harvesting plants in Epyeshonas and Iipopos gardens, this years slightly above-average rain season has lead to a sufficient amount of water for cultivation of fruit and vegetables at the CuveWaters pilot plants. In Iipopo water for irrigation purposes is collected from the local Oshana which now has an adequate water level as well as water quality and at the end of the rain season water will be collected from there and led to the provided storage basins. The trainings concerning technical and economic aspects implemented by One World Consultants in February 2014 at both locations also show good results. Therefore the new operating group in Epyeshona, determined by the village committee, has already retracted the first spinach harvest and the operators of the plant in Iipopo are expecting an especially good tomato harvest.
