Training of DWSSC staff members in Akutsima and Amarika

On the 30th October, the training on the raw water supply well of the desalination plant in Amarika was successfully completed. 22 staff members of the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination (DWSSC) from all over Namibia attended the 4-day training on well installation, monitoring and rehabilitation organized by CuveWaters in cooperation with MAWF and BGR and delivered by Dr. Hella Rüskamp. The participants performed a pump test in the well in Amarika, assessed the results of the test and discussed drilling methods, well building, well performance and rehabilitation needs. Both the participants and the trainers were left with the best of impressions.

3 weeks earlier, from the 6th to the 10th October the same group of participants from DWSSC received training on the two desalination plants installed by CuveWaters in Akutsima (Multi-Effect-Humidification by terrawater and Multi-Stage-Desalination by IBEU/Jülich). Engineers from terrawater and IBEU presented the technologies and their functioning principals and discussed with the participants their operation, regular maintenance needs and trouble-shooting. The participants expressed their belief that the training equipped them with valuable knowledge and understanding of the technologies and constituted an important step towards the successful O&M of the plants by DWSSC.
