A five week training course carried out at UNAM Eduardo dos Santos (Engineering) Campus in Ongwediva was successfully completed on 26th of September 2014 with ten technicians trained in all aspects of rainwater harvesting construction and horticulture. The training course was jointly organized by CuveWaters (TU Darmstadt), the TU Kaiserslautern and the FU Berlin and was financed by GIZ and BMBF through CuveWaters. The training was given by our rainwater harvesting consultants from One World Consultants (Kenya) Isaac Kariuki and John Ndungu. Trainees came from different institutions such as the RDC’s in Okashana and Ongwediva, from a project at Oshikuku as well as from the Cuvewaters pilot village Epyeshona. The trained technicians are now able to construct tanks elsewhere in Namibia. A closing ceremony will take place on 27th of October 2014 at UNAM where certificates as well as manuals for tank construction will be handed over to the trainees, furthermore the responsibility for the care of the constructed facilities will be handed over to UNAM.
