Launch of Digital Atlas

The World Water Day in Outapi has been a very successful event and people came together with many reasons to celebrate. Just to name one: the Namibian Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) website was launched by courtesy of Undersecretary Abraham Nehemia (MAWF). The website contains details about IWRM itself, the different basins, workshops and last but not least the individual IWRM projects. One of which is CuveWaters.

Premiere of the sanitation film in Namibia

Outapi has been chosen as the nationwide venue for the World Water Day 2014 in Namibia. On this special occasion the team of CuveWaters together with the Outapi Town Council was very proud to present the newly produced film about the sanitation project which is positioned in Outapi itself. The film had its premiere at the Award Dinner on the 26th of March at the Regional Council of Outapi and was viewed by all present guests. World Water Day in Outapi: festivities at the project location of CuveWaters

The international research team of CuveWaters under the leadership of ISOE – Institute for Social-Ecological Research has reasons to celebrate: this year Outapi, the small town in northern Namibia, was officially chosen as the nationwide venue for the festivities of the World Water Day by the Namibian government. The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) in Namibia wants to focus on the innovative sanitation plants which were developed in the course of the CuveWaters project. The municipality of Outapi is a partner of the project and runs the plant since the end of 2013.[more]

Official inauguration of Oswin O. Namakalu Sanitation and Reuse Facility

The wastewater treatment plant with its facilities (washhouses, irrigation field etc.) was officially inaugurated on  November 1, 2013 by Honorable Sophia Shaningwa (Governor of Omusati Region) in Outapi. The plant is expected to improve sanitary conditions in the informal settlements Onhimbu, Okaigongwe and Tobias Hainyeko.

Phase III Kick-off Workshop in Windhoek

CuveWaters project partners met on 24th and 25th October 2013 in Windhoek to develop an interdependent partnering implementation for Phase III. The workshop offered an excellent opportunity to reflect on where the project stands regarding its achievements and challenges as well as to craft a joint operational plan for the first year of Phase III. The focus of this last phase of the CuveWaters project is to safeguard what has been achieved and to hand it over to the Namibian partners as well as to disseminate the results from the successful pilot-like implementation.
