Water for the dry season – Handing over the floodwater harvesting plant in Iipopo, central-northern Namibia

During the rainy season normally there is abundant rain- and surface water sufficient for irrigation purposes available in northern Namibia. During average rainy seasons, the widely branched river arms in the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin, the Oshanas, carry large quantities of water which evaporate during the dry season. With its floodwater harvesting pilot plant in Iipopo the German-Namibian project team from CuveWaters together with the local community has developed a solution for agricultural irrigation during the dry season. Welcome to Germany

The Outapi Town Council has safely arrived in Frankfurt. They were welcomed at the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE). The next stop is Berlin where the Mayor of Outapi His Worship Matheus Ndesthitila, the CEO of Outapi Town Council Mr. Nashilongo Ananias and Mrs. Elizabeth Ekandjo (Senior Manager Local Economic Development/Outapi Town Council) will visit the international fair “WasserBerlin” and meet with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). CuveWaters at the big opening event of the "German Weeks" 2015 in Windhoek

In Namibia the German Embassy will celebrate 25 years of German-Namibian relations in form of the so called "German Weeks". A presentation of all German or German-financed organizations, institutions and projects will take place at the Goethe Centre in Windhoek today. 25 years of Namibian independence and German-Namibian relations

On the 21st of March, Namibia is celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Namibian Independence, after more than 100 years of heteronomy. This is a very special occasion to which CuveWaters would like to sincerely congratulate. On the same subject, we want to mention the 25 years of diplomatic relations between Namibia and Germany as a further very joyous incident. Train the Trainer – Irrigation and Horticulture

Since Namibia is a water scarce country and agricultural production is always limited by unpredictable and erratic rainfall, CuveWaters emphasizes capacity development and has planned trainings to share knowledge and improve farming skills. 

This year CuveWaters is concentrating on “Irrigation and Horticulture with harvested rainwater”. The training will take place at the Rainwater Harvesting and Irrigation Field Laboratory at UNAM Ongwediva and will be conducted by Isaac Kariuki from One World Consultants.
