CuveWaters at the Ongwediva Trade Fair

The "Ongwediva Trade Fair" is the biggest fair taking place every year. From the 23th of August to the 1st of September 2012 it was held in Ongwediva and for the first time CuveWaters was present with its own stand. Posters, videos and other information material were available at the stand and attracted a lot of visitors. The stand was run by the CuveWaters beneficiaries from Epyeshona (Rainwater Harvesting pilot village) and Iipopo (Subsurface Water Storage pilot village) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry as well as the GIZ. IWRM Toolkit now available

In cooperation with Namibian partners CuveWaters has gathered and reviewed available information materials and tools supporting the implementation process of IWRM. The IWRM Toolkit was developed based on the needs addressed by the participants during a workshop in 2011. They asked for materials supporting the implementation process and facilitating the common understanding of the IWRM concept. The document contains the definition of IWRM and selected links to information materials, tools, webpages, newsletters and education programs.[more]

Lake under the Namibian desert needs to be used sustainably

A subterranean aquifer has been found at a depth of 250-350 metres in Namibia. It is more than 10,000 years old and its volume equals 400 times the amount of water which is abstracted annually from Kunene river for drinking water supply of the region in northern Namibia. ISOE is calling for the sustainable use of this groundwater resource.[more]

Community Health Club in Outapi received facilitator kits

The team of the Community Health Club (CHC) in Outapi has proudly received their facilitator kits. These kits include t-shirts, caps, name tags and bags for their training materials. The Outapi Town Council kindly funded the kits and thereby supports the work of the 28 facilitators considerably. The facilitators belong to the NGO Development Aid People for People (DAPP) and are currently registered at DAPP’s Vocational Training Centre near Outapi.

Rainwater Harvesting Information Workshop in Windhoek/Namibia

On the 9th of July 2012, CuveWaters held a half-day workshop at the Habitat Research and Development Center in Windhoek/Namibia. The aim was to inform the Namibian scientific community, planners and decision makers from ministries and other government bodies on the possibilities for rainwater harvesting in Namibia. Between 2009 and 2011, CuveWaters has implemented different kinds of rainwater harvesting pilot plants in the village of Epyeshona north of Oshakati.
