Member of German Parliament in Namibia

Mrs. Veronika Bellmann, Member of the German Parliament, visited Namibia end of October to familiarize herself with water initiatives in the country among other things. In cooperation with the German Embassy in Windhoek, CuveWaters organized a meeting with Prof. Tjama Tjivikua and his staff at the Polytechnic of Namibia to present their activities in the field of water and energy. Possible cooperation were discussed in a very productive and successful meeting.[more]

Closing ceremony of the RWH tank construction training at UNAM Hose Eduardo dos Santos Engineering Campus, Ongwediva

On 27th of October 2014 all RWH tank training participants came together for an official closing ceremony at UNAM Hose Eduardo dos Santos (Engineering) Campus, Ongwediva. In theoretical lectures held at the University they gained further understanding in several aspects of rainwater harvesting and irrigation, the lectures where linked to the to “CuveWaters Rainwater Harvesting Technology Toolkit” which was also published during the event.

Training of DWSSC staff members in Akutsima and Amarika

On the 30th October, the training on the raw water supply well of the desalination plant in Amarika was successfully completed. 22 staff members of the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination (DWSSC) from all over Namibia attended the 4-day training on well installation, monitoring and rehabilitation organized by CuveWaters in cooperation with MAWF and BGR and delivered by Dr. Hella Rüskamp. Visit the newly constructed rainwater harvesting research plant at UNAM Eduardo dos Santos (Engineering) Campus in Ongwediva

CuveWaters together with its partners TU Kaiserslautern and FU Berlin has constructed a research plant for rainwater harvesting in August and September 2014 at UNAM Eduardo dos Santos (Engineering) Campus in Ongwediva. The construction was financed by GIZ and BMBF  through CuveWaters and was done as part of a training course organized by CuveWaters. In the training course ten people from different Namibian institutions were trained in all aspects of rainwater harvesting tank construction and horticulture and are now able to construct rainwater harvesting tanks elsewhere in Namibia. Tank technician training course successfully completed

A five week training course carried out at UNAM Eduardo dos Santos (Engineering) Campus in Ongwediva was successfully completed on 26th of September 2014 with ten technicians trained in all aspects of rainwater harvesting construction and horticulture. The training course was jointly organized by CuveWaters (TU Darmstadt), the TU Kaiserslautern and the FU Berlin and was financed by GIZ and BMBF through CuveWaters.
